Admission to the site is C$15 for adults, C$14 for seniors, and C$7 for youth and children. The site also hosts a variety of special programs throughout the year, including garden workshops, art exhibitions, and the Habitat Cafe. The park also provides a beautiful, intimate setting for weddings, retreats, conferences, and corporate team building activities. It is also the location of the annual Hatley Castle 8K race.
In addition to a magnificent castle, the park contains a college and large heritage gardens. A guided tour is available to experience the historic sites. Visitors are also welcome to tour the castle’s interior. The castle is also a Classified Federal Heritage Building. You can also take a stroll through the gardens or take a walk along the trails.
Besides being a National Historic Site, Hatley Park is also home to Royal Roads University. The castle serves as the centerpiece of the estate, and it is surrounded by 15 kilometers of trails through old growth forests. Moreover, the park contains a protected migratory bird sanctuary and a First Nations’ site. Lastly, the site offers a spectacular view of the Olympic Mountains. All this is just 20 minutes from downtown Victoria.
The grounds of Hatley Park National Historic Site include the Hatley Castle, which was built in the early 1900s. The castle was once home to the Dunsmuir family. It is now the home of Royal Roads University, which is why it is only accessible through guided tours. Besides the castle, visitors can also visit the Hatley Gardens, which boast Italian, Japanese, and Rose gardens. The gardens are surrounded by miles of old-growth forest. In addition to the gardens, the park also has several walking trails.
The Hatley Castle is a beautiful Edwardian estate that sits on 565 acres of southern Vancouver Island. It is a stunning location for wedding photos.
